The installation aims to address a social problem, it is crucial for the visitors to take part of the installation. The visitor's function is to "recognize the social problem and to take the challenge of being confronted with the obstacles." Entering the room, there is a setting of a round table that is chained to the walls of the room. The chains symbolizes the solidarity to each other but also the obstacles to reach each other "this problem is chained to Borgerhout".

 

The table symbolizes coming together and feeling welcome in the west, the table is set with crockery from the most common population groups in Borgerhout (Moroccan, Turkish and Belgian). In order to reach the table, the visitors are forced to take the challenge of getting to the table and get to the problem statement. However this is not without danger, the chains can cause the table to move. So that unsustainables, causes the crockery to fall and break or stain the tablecloth. In this action, it is important to proceed carefully and thoughtfully. This is similar to our current problem statement: Go through it carefully because it can stain/damage our society. At the table there is a menu, with the problem statement: miscommunication. 

 

The menu is divided into several languages where it becomes difficult for each individual to fully understand the menu. This indicates the misscommunication among the different groups, every group keeps talking their own languages. The visitor is inclined to explain the menu to foreign-language users. Or need to search the translation of the meaning, to understand the problem statement and to discus the questions. There is interaction between the vistors, a question, a talk, a memorie.
